The Ecomuseo delle Miniere e della Val Germanasca offers an exciting discover experience. The peculiarity of the Ecomuseum visits centre, a site of excellence, is the presence of the two galleries named “Paola” and “Gianna” which lead to two underground itineraries of over 4km, fully equipped and internationally renowned:
SCOPRIMINIERA: (Paola mine): it deepens the topic of the peasant-miner testifying nearly 200 years of mineral processing of “White of the Alps”, (finest talc) which had profoundly marked this valley and the mineral processing industry in Italy.
SCOPRIALPI (Gianna mine): thanks to an important bounday line between two different geological units it allows to retrace the alpine mountain chain formation from the underground, right where the elements that generated it are visible and tangible.
Besides the underground tours, in the next area and industrial building it is possible to visit the permanent exhibition at the entrance of Paola mine. There are also a video room, the Mines Historical Archive, educational projects rooms, the reception centre, the book-shop and the bar and restaurant “Il Ristoro del Minatore”.
